In celebration of my sisters wedding tomorrow, I give you Billy Idol…
Hey little sister what have you done
Hey little sister who’s the only one
Hey little sister who’s your superman
Hey little sister who’s the one you want
Hey little sister shot gun! It’s a nice day to start again
It’s a nice day for a white wedding
It’s a nice day to start again.Hey little sister what have you done
Hey little sister who’s the only one
I’ve been away for so long (so long)
I’ve been away for so long (so long)
I let you go for so longIt’s a nice day to start again (come on)
It’s a nice day for a white wedding
It’s a nice day to start again.(Pick it up)
Take me back home
There is nothin’ fair in this world
There is nothin’ safe in this world
And there’s nothin’ sure in this world
And there’s nothin’ pure in this world
Look for something left in this world
Start again
Come onIt’s a nice day for a white wedding
It’s a nice day to start again.
It’s a nice day for a white wedding
It’s a nice day to start again
This is one of my favourite Hendrix tracks. I first heard it on a tape called “Cry of Love” along with “Angel”, “Dolly Dagger” and “Freedom”. It was a well worn tape, with lots of noise and hiss all the way through it, but that just helped to make it more magical in my mind. I think it was later released on a CD called “Angel” (but I might be mistaken about the title and I think it was a bootleg), and then again on “First Rays of the New Rising Sun” of which I have owned about 10 copies over the last 20 years.
It is by far the best album that was ever released, even posthumously. The songs are all extremely well written, the lyrics absolute genious. It’s a shame the man died, but through the evolution of his albums, I think you can guess that he would have been the Miles Davis of the guitar, re-inventing his style and raising the bar with each new release.
This song has a special relevance to me…
“Belly Button Window”
Well. I’m up here in this womb
I’m looking all around
Well, I’m looking out my belly button window
And I see a whole lot of frowns
And I’m wondering if they don’t want me aroundWhat seems to be the fuzz out there?
Just what seems to be the hang?
‘Cause you know if ya just don’t want me this time around,
Yeah I’ll be glad to go back to Spirit Land
And even take a longer rest,
Before I’m coming down the chute again
Man, I sure remember the last time, baby
They were still hawkin’ about me then
So if you don’t want me now,
Make up your mind, where or when
If you don’t want me now,
Give or take, you only got two hundred days
‘Cause I ain’t coming down this way too much more againYou know they got pills for ills and thrills and even spills
But I think you’re just a little too late
So I’m coming down into this world, daddy
Regardless of love and hate
And I’m gonna sit up in your bed, mama
And just a grin right in your face
And then I’m gonna eat up all your chocolates,
And say “I hope I’m not too late”So if there’s any questions,
Make up your mind
‘Cause you better give or take
Questions in your mind
Give it a take,
You only got two hundred daysWay up into this womb
Looking all around
Sure’s dark in here
And I’m looking out my belly button window
And I swear I see nothing but a lot of frowns
And I’m wondering if they want me around.
I’ll fuck anything that moves, but I won’t touch you again.
I’ve screwed fat, smelly women. Women who are unaware of proper vaginal hygiene. Freaks who like to be punched in the face, asphyxiated as they orgasm. Whores with wide pussies that feel more like a dry blanket than a love tunnel. I’ve fucked in dirty hovels where the bugs run down your back while doing the deed. I’ve had my dick sucked by toothless women with mouth sores. In dirty alleys and broken down cars.
But you, you are just disgusting.
The album todays choice comes from was literally life changing for me. After “…And Justice For All” my taste in music became heavier and darker, setting me up for the eclectic listening habits of today. 1988 was the year I started growing my hair long, wearing black t-shirts with skinny jeans with holes in the knees, spurred on by the release of GnR’s “Appetite for Destruction” and the wave of “metal” bands that year. Metallica showed me that the music could be heavy, but still be technically proficient. I think it was the first album where I actually noticed the double kick drum, with Lars basically running on the pedals. From here I jumped to Slayer, and from Slayer I went right into death metal (Death, Obituary, Morbid Angel, Deicide, etc…). This has recently cropped back up in my listening, with the likes of Opeth, Mastadon, Hatebreed and Sunn((0. My musical taste has always went towards the outsides of the genres, always looking for the hardest, heaviest, most out there listening experience I can have from the comfort of my home.
My life suffocates
Planting seeds of hate
Ive loved, turned to hate
Trapped far beyond my fateI give
You take
This life that I forsake
Been cheated of my youth
You turned this lie to truthAnger
Misery
Youll suffer unto meHarvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrowPure black looking clear
My work is done soon here
Try getting back to me
Get back which used to beDrink up
Shoot in
Let the beatings begin
Distributor of pain
Your loss becomes my gainAnger
Misery
Youll suffer unto meHarvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrowAll have said their prayers
Invade their nightmares
See into my eyes
Youll find where murder liesInfanticide
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
Language of the mad
Harvester of sorrow
One of the best songs of last year:
Dax Riggs “Demon Tied to a Chair in my Brain”
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Blackbird a tappin’ on the window pane
Sick man smilin’ at a stray dog in the rain
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Lovers burnin’ ghostly draggin’ their chains
Met eyes from the window
Of that midnight train
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
Mad shriekin’ woman weepin’ my name
My skeleton is meltin’
My soul is in flames
Demon tied to a chair in my brain
