“Strange Form of Life”

Can’t find a Blip for this… But it is a fantastic track, as is the rest of the album “The Letting Go”. Bonnie PrinceBIlly just amazes me with his lyrics and music, every album is a new treat…

a strange form of life
kicking through windows
rolling on yards

heading in loved ones’ triggering eyes
a strange one

and a hard way to come into a cabin
into the weather
into a path
walking together
a hard one

and the softest lips ever
25 years of waiting to kiss them
smiling and waiting
to bend down and kiss twice
the softest lips

in a dark little room
across the nation
you found myself racing
forgetting the strange and the hard
and the soft kiss
in the dark room

and a strange form of life
kicking through windows
rolling on yards

heading in loved ones’ triggering eyes
a strange one

Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)

Quite possibly the best Jimi Hendrix song. It really made my evening…

Is the microphone on?

Hey baby where are you coming from?
Well she looked at me and smiled
And looked into space and said I’m coming from the land of the new rising sun.

Then I said Hey baby where are you trying to go to?
Then she said I’m going to
Spin and spread around peace of mind and a whole lotta love to you and you

Hey girl I’d like to come along
Yes, I’d love to come along
Would you like to come along? She asked me
Yes take me along right now

Hey baby, can I step into your world for a while?
Yes you can, she said
Come on back with me for a while
We’re gonna go across the Jupiter sand and see all you people one by one
We gotta help you people out right now
That’s why I’m doing it all about

Hey! Yeah, may I come along?
May I come along?
May I come along? Yeah, yeah!
Please take me

Belle and Sebastian –

And now for a lighthearted song from good old Scottish group Belle and Sebastian:

Honey, lovin’ you is the greatest thing,
I get to be myself and I get to sing,
I get to play at being irresponsible,
I come home late and love your soul,
I never forget you in my prayers,
I never have a bad thing to report.

You’re my picture on the wall,
You’re my vision in the hall,
You’re the one I’m talking to,
When I get in from my work,
You are my girl, and you don’t even know it,
I am living out the life of a poet,
I am the jester in the ancient court,
And you’re the funny little frog in my doorway.

My eye sight’s fading, my hearing’s dim,
I can’t get insured for the state I’m in,
I’m a danger to myself I’ve been starting fights,
At the party at the club on a Saturday night,
But I don’t get disapproving from my girl,
She gets all the highlights wrapped in pearls.

You’re my picture on the wall,
You’re my vision in the hall,
You’re the one I’m talking to,
When I get in from my work,
You are my girl, and you don’t even know it,
I am living out the life of a poet,
I am the jester in the ancient court,
And you’re the funny little frog in my doorway.

I had a conversation with you at night,
It’s a little one sided but that’s all right,
I tell you in the kitchen about my day,
You sit on the bed in the dark changing places,
With the ghost that was there before you came,
You’ve come to save my life again.

I don’t dare to touch your hand,
I don’t dare to think of you,
In a physical way,
And I don’t know how you smell,
You are the cover of my magazine,
You’re my fashion tip, a living museum,
I’d pay to visit you on rainy Sundays,
And maybe tell you all about it, someday.

Bowie – “Drive-In Saturday”

“Aladdin Sane” has to be one of my favourite Bowie albums. There’s still a hint of “Ziggy” around, but it shows the diversity he has, and sets up the next decade of output from him.
I’ve been a Bowie fan since “China Girl” in the 80′s. He has always fascinated me and left me wanting to hear more. It would be fantastic if someone put out a box set with a bunch of outakes and demo’s and such, I’d love to hear some of his songs evolve.

Let me put my arms around your head
Gee, its hot, lets go to bed
Don’t forget to turn on the light
Don’t laugh babe, itll be alright

Pour me out another phone
I’ll ring and see if your friends are home
Perhaps the strange ones in the dome
Can lend us a book we can read up alone

And try to get it on like once before
When people stared in jaggers eyes and scored
Like the video films we saw

His name was always buddy
And he’d shrug and ask to stay
She’d sigh like twig the wonder kid
And turn her face away

She’s uncertain if she likes him
But she knows she really loves him
Its a crash course for the ravers
Its a drive-in saturday

Jung the foreman prayed at work
Neither hands nor limbs would burst
Its hard enough to keep formation with this fall out saturation
cursing at the astronaut
who stands in steel by his cabinet
Hes crashing out with sylvian
The bureau supply for ageing men
With snorting head he gazes to the shore
Once had raised a sea that raged no more
Like the video films we saw

His name was always buddy
And he’d shrug and ask to stay
She’d sigh like twig the wonder kid
And turn her face away

Shes uncertain if she likes him
But she knows she really loves him
Its a crash course for the ravers
Its a drive-in saturday

His name was always buddy
And he’d shrug and ask to stay
She’d sigh like twig the wonder kid
And turn her face away

Shes uncertain if she likes him
But she knows she really loves him
Its a crash course for the ravers
Its a drive-in saturday, yeah, yeah

(drive-in saturday)
(its a drive-in saturday)
(its a drive-in saturday)
Drive in saturday
(its a drive-in saturday)
Its a, its a, its a drive in saturday
(its a drive-in saturday)
Its a, its a, its a, yes sir, yes sir, yes sir, yes sir, yes sir, yes sir
(its a drive-in saturday)
Dom du du du, dom du du du
(its a drive-in saturday)
Dom du du da, dom du du da
